Bentley Flying Spur Adds S Trim To Its Lineup Which Is Aimed At Enthusiasts

Just like the Continental GT and GTC, Bentley has added the new S trim level for the sedan variant the Flying Spur and like its coupe and convertible siblings, it is aimed at enthusiasts.

Unlike the two-door and drop-top models, customers can opt for a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V-8 that produces 542 hp and 568 lb-ft of torque, which will get the Flying Spur S from 0-62 mph in 4.0 seconds and on to a top speed of 198 mph, according to Bentley, or a plug-in hybrid powertrain, consisting of a turbocharged 2.9-litre V-6 working with an electric motor that’s driven by a 14.1-kWh battery pack. Borrowed from the Porsche Panamera 4S E-Hybrid, the hybrid system produces 536 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. Bentley says the plug-in hybrid is just 0.1 seconds slower than the V-8 Flying Spur from 0-62 mph, and it has an EPA-rated 21 miles of electric range.

Both cars come standard with Bentley Dynamic Ride and all-wheel steering. The former can apply anti-roll torque to the wheels within 0.3 seconds to keep the car flat through a corner. It’s also responsible for retaining that glorious floating sensation by decoupling the wheels across each axle.

The Flying Spur S features black trim for the grille, lower fascia, side inlets, mirror caps, window surrounds, rear bumper accents, and exhaust outlets. The headlights and taillights have tinted lenses. An S badge decorates the front fenders. Buyers have several wheel options. There’s a 22-inch design with five Y-shaped spokes and the choice of a gloss black or Pale Brodgar Satin finish. Alternatively, a 21-inch option has a tri-spoke design in a mix of gloss black and bright machined metal. Regardless of the choice, there are red brake callipers.

Inside the cabin, there is hand-crafted leather combined with suede-like Dinamica on the steering wheel, gearknob, and seats. The sports seats are fluted with optional quilting and the S badge or Bentley wings embroidered on the headrests. Other details include the new graphics on the instrument cluster borrowed from the Continental GT Speed, the S badge on the dashboard, and the illuminated Bentley S treadplates.
