Angry youths on Monday hauled stones at the convoy of the President Muhammadu Buhari during his 2-day official visit to Kano State to inaugurate eight development projects.
Despite the heavy security presence across the Kano metropolis, the irate youths came out in droves to express their dissatisfaction on the naira redesign and the deadline for the old notes.
In video clips circulated on social media, youths were seen throwing stones at an NAF AgustaWestland AW101 helicopter believed to be conveying the President as it took off after commissioning a solar project at Zawaciki.

Recall that Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje earlier told President Buhari he couldn’t guarantee his safety in Kano ahead of his proposed visit.
In a statement, Ganduje said that the naira redesign and January 31 deadline for old notes had brought hardship on residents of the state.
“Deeply concerned with the hardship caused by the limited time given for halting the use of old naira notes by the Central Bank of Nigeria, and for security reasons, Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje reveals that the state resolved and wrote to the presidency that the visit of the president to commission some projects to be postponed,” the statement said in part.
