2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate Unveiled With Less Luggage Space But More Spacious Inside
First of all: the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate is certainly not a model in which you are short of power. But it won’t be as spacious as the E-class Estate once was. The previous generation kicked it up to 640 liters without the rear seats folded down and its predecessor – the S212 – swallowed no less than 695 liters. This brand-new Mercedes-Benz E-class has a volume of 640 liters with the rear seats up, which means it has a less lavish luggage space than its two predecessors. This is striking since the new E-Class Estate with a car length of 4.95 meters is a few millimeters larger than the station wagon it replaces. In addition, the E-Estate is almost three centimeters wider and has a wheelbase that is more than two centimeters larger than before.
So some liters were lost during the generation change. As with the sedan, the extra centimeters that the new E-Class Estate gains compared to the previous model mainly benefit the rear-seat passengers. If you throw the back seat flat, you will benefit from its slightly larger size. With – incidentally in unequal parts – folded rear seats, the new station-E slurps up to 1,830 liters of material. The previous one stuck at 1,820 with the rear seats folded down. As before, you have to settle for a smaller luggage space with plug-in hybrid versions. Due to the placement of the battery pack, you can store a plug-in E-Estate 460 liters (-155 liters) in the back. With the rear seats folded down, the plug-in hybrid Estates like 1,675 liters.
For those who know the latest E-class sedan, this Estate provides few surprises in terms of appearance. Like the sedan, the E-Class Estate will soon be available with an illuminated grille that is reminiscent of the ones that Mercedes-Benz screws onto its EQ models.
Engines and interior features are the same as the sedan variant so we won’t repeat it here.

It will never be as spacious as the E-Class Estate was two generations ago.
