Here Are The Routes, Train Capacity Of The Lagos Blue Line Rail And The Red Line Rail

Here are the routes, train capacity of the Lagos Blue Line Rail and the Red Line Rail system designed to ease transportation challenges in the state.
Earlier this month, the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu flagged off the first phase of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line. The Blue Line is one of six rail systems designed to ease transportation in the state, including the Red Line Rail, which Governor said will be ready by December 2023.
Both the Blue Line Rail and the Red Line Rail systems are being managed by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), an agency under the Ministry of Transportation created in 2002.

Blue Line
Route and Stations
The Blue Line Rail system stretches 27 kilometers from Marina to Okokomaiko
The first phase of the Lagos Blue Line stretches 13-kilometers from Marina to Mile 2.
It covers five stations at Mile 2, Suru-Alaba, Orile Iganmu, National Theatre and Marina.
The second phase is expected cover 14 kilometers stretch from Mile 2 to Okokomaiko.
It covers seven stations at Mile 2, Festac, Alakija, Trade Fair Volkswagen, LASU and Okokomaiko.
Passengers
The first phase of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit system will transport 250,000 passengers daily. This numbers is expected to rise to 500,000 passengers daily when the entire 27km track from Marina to Okokomaiko is completed.
Train
The Lagos Blue Line uses Electric Multiple Units (EMUs), which is a multiple-unit train consisting of self-propelled carriages using electricity as the motive power.
Capacity
800 Passengers
Red Line
The 37-kilometre Red Line system (LRMT) will run from Agbado to Marina.
Stations
Covers 13 stations from Agbado, Iju, Agege, Ikeja, Murtala Muhammad International Airport, the Domestic Airport, Oshodi, Mushin, Yaba, Ebute Meta, Iddo, Ebute Ero, and Marina.
Passengers
The Red Line is projected to carry more than 500,000 passengers per day and more 1 million passengers per day when fully operational.
Train
The Red Line system (LRMT) will use Talgo VIII trains powered by Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), also known as diesel.
Capacity
Each train can carry 1,500 passengers
