First Made-in-Germany MINI Rolls Off The Same Production Line That Also Makes BMW 1 Series, 2 Series
The first Made-in-Germany MINI rolls off the production line that also makes BMW 1 Series and 2 Series.
The first Made-in-Germany MINI Countryman is finished in Smokey Green with a contrast roof in Energy Silver.
Since 2018, BMW Group has invested €700m at plant Leipzig to increase capacity and enable production of the MINI Countryman.
Unlike its other plants, the Plant Leipzig can produce different models for multiple brands for the very first time.

BMW Group production lines at Leipzig, in Germany stood still for almost 45 minutes on Friday November 10th 2023 to celebrate the production launch of the MINI Countryman, a MINI model that is also the first to be made in Germany.
The new MINI Countryman, like first finished in Smokey Green with a contrast roof in Energy Silver, will be produced on the same production line as the BMW 1 Series and 2 Series, with the full range of drives : combustion-powered, plug-in hybrid and fully electric.

Stefanie Wurst, head of MINI, detailed the characteristics of the new MINI Countryman:
“The first MINI made in Germany stands for superior environmental credentials, not just as a product but equally in terms of its production. Its versatility and powerful, efficient drives make it the perfect companion for the city – but also for adventures beyond.”

Production of the largest MINI model to date marks an important step into the future of the Plant Leipzig, where the BMW Group has invested some €700 million since 2018 to increase capacity and enable production of the MINI Countryman.
Unlike the other BMW Group plants designed to produce different models with different drives on a single production line, the Plant Leipzig is special as it can produce different models for multiple brands for the very first time.

“By launching production of the MINI Countryman here in Leipzig, we are introducing multibrand operations to our flexible production system,” explained Milan Nedeljković, Board Member for Production.
“Plant Leipzig also offers a number of highlights in terms of resource conservation in production, providing further evidence of the successful rollout of our long-term masterplan: the BMW iFACTORY.”
