Nigeria Police Goes Green, To Add Electric And CNG-powered Vehicles To Its Fleet

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has launched Green Initiative known as the Nigeria Police Green that is aimed at using green innovative solutions to boost the operational efficiency and capacity of the NPF to fight crime and maintain law and order in Nigeria.

A key aspect of the Initiative is “Nigeria Police Emission Reduction Programme” which is aligned to the national and global direction in addressing climate change issues through emission reduction projects and lifestyle to be adopted by all Police Officers.





A statement by the NPF said that the initiative also aims at promoting eco-friendly transportation methods, which will be achieved through the addition of Battery Electric and CNG-powered vehicles to the Police Fleet.

“This includes transitioning to electric vehicles and gas conversion vehicles thus reducing premium motor spirits (PMS) consumption and air pollution while increasing efficiency and promoting a healthier lifestyle among police personnel and the community.

Sanwo-Olu Sacks Oreagba, Appoints Bakare-Oki As LASTMA General Manager

The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has approved the appointment of Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki as the Acting General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).

This was made known in statement by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Transportation Mr. Olawale Musa. According to the Musa :

“The appointment of Mr. Bakare-Oki Olalekan is for better performance, eradicating incidences of misdemeanours among staffs and continued efficient/effective traffic management on Lagos roads.

“Bakare-Oki Olalekan joined the Lagos State Public Service on the April 25, 2000 and rose through the ranks over the years to the post of Deputy Director, Logistics and Engineering Department of LASTMA, before his new appointment as General Manager.





Ogun Customs Showcases October Seizures, Ranging From Vehicles, Foreign-used Tyres, Worth N398 Million

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ogun 1 Area Command has showcased 122 goods with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of totaling N398,470,687.00 (N398 million) intercepted by the command in the month of October 2023.

During the stated period, the Command generated a remarkable N30,408,276.00 in revenue, which is a substantial increase of N24,921,200.00 (+400%) from the N5,487,076.00 recorded in October 2022.

The Deputy Comptroller Ahmadu Shuaibu, the Acting Customs Area Controller of Ogun 1 Area Command, made this known during a press briefing at Idiroko on 22 November 2023.

Shuaibu attributed this success to efficient leadership and the strategic deployment of resources, including 8 Toyota Land Cruiser trucks provided by the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR.

Businessman turned politician, Shina Peller, on Friday gifted the new Aseyin of Iseyinland, Oba Sefiu Olawale Oyebola Adeyeri III, a Mercedes-Benz S-Class (S500) ultra-luxury sedan.

The Iseyin-born owner of Night Club, Quilox, presented the Mercedes-Benz S-Class to the 53 year old monarch on Friday when he paid homage to him at his palace in Iseyin.

Designed to rival ultra-luxury sedans like the BMW 7-series and Genesis G90, the S-Class offers a sumptuous cabin, pampering seating plus a long list of features, including a 12.8-inch touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a 15-speaker stereo.
