Obi Cubana Tours GAC Plant In China, CIG Motors Debunks Claims Of Plans To Set Up Car Plant In Aba
Obi Cubana tours GAC Plant in China, CIG Motors (Nigeria) debunks claims of plans to set up car plant in Aba.
CIG Motors (Nigeria) said Obi Cubana’s trip was sponsored by CIG Motors to allow him to see the China factory.
Last week, Nigerian businessman, Obi Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, visited the Chinese-state Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. (GAC) plant in China, where he was received by officials of the company.
Pictures and a video taken during his visit to the GAC plant in China was shared on Obi Cubana’s Instagram page.
“We begin the day….Day 1!
The most important part of any journey is the starting. No matter how long the journey may seem, just start! A visit to the Guangzhou Office and assembly plants of GAC Cars in China ??,” Obi Cubana wrote in his caption.

While the purpose of his visit was not stated in the post shared, the Executive Director CIG Motors (Nigeria), Mr Jubril Arogundade, said his trip was sponsored by CIG Motors for him to see the China factory.

“He just visited China on a trip sponsored by CIG Motors for him to see the China factory,” Arogundade said while debunking fake news that Obi Cubana was planning to build a GAC plant in the South East.
“It is fake news. Obi Cubana is not planning to set up a plant. We took him to see our factory in China as part of our partnership,” Arogundade said while responding to Vanguard’s inquiry on the authenticity of the news.

It will be recalled that CIG Motors, the exclusive distributor of GAC brand in Nigeria, presented a brand new GAC GS8 ultra-luxury SUV to Obi Cubana at an event hosted by GAC Motor Nigeria to celebrate his 49th birthday.
The well-attended event in April, held at the GAC Motors G-Style Showroom in Victoria Island, was also used to celebrate and solidify the ongoing partnership between Obi Cubana and GAC Motors Nigeria.
