Toyota Recalls Nigerian Politician’s Favourite Ride, The Lexus LX 600, Over Potential Engine Failure
Toyota recalls Nigerian politician’s favourite ride, the flagship Lexus LX 600 SUV, over potential engine failure.
Says potential debris from the manufacturing process may contaminate the engine and cause the main bearings to fail.
In the involved vehicles, this can lead to potential engine knocking, engine rough running and a loss of motive power.
Recall only affects the petrol-powered variants of the 2022-2023 model year Lexus LX 600 SUV.
The affected Lexus LX 600 are part of the approximately 102,000 vehicle recalls issued by Toyota Motor Corporation.
Recall also affected some 2022-2023 model year Toyota Tundra pickup trucks equipped with the V35A six-cylinder engine.

Toyota Motor Corporation is recalling its flagship Lexus LX 600 SUV from the 2022 and 2023 model years over potential debris from the manufacturing process that may contaminate the engine and cause the main bearings to fail.
The recall only affects the purely petrol-powered models equipped with the Japanese automaker’s V35A six-cylinder engine and not the hybrid or the diesel-powered variants of the Toyota Land Cruiser 300-based LX 600.
“There is a possibility that certain machining debris may not have been cleared from the engine when it was produced,” the Japanese conglomerate said in a statement.

“In the involved vehicles, this can lead to potential engine knocking, engine rough running, engine no start and/or a loss of motive power. A loss of motive power while driving at higher speeds can increase the risk of a crash.”
The affected LX 600 are part of the approximately 102,000 vehicle recalls issued by Toyota. The recall also affected some 2022-2023 model year Toyota Tundra pickup trucks equipped with the Japanese automaker’s V35A six-cylinder engine.
Notifications to owners of the affected 2022-2023 model year Lexus LX 600 SUV and Toyota Tundra pickup trucks will start by July 29, 2024. Lexus notes that the remedy will be free of charge to vehicle owners.
