Protesting Staff And Students At FCE (T) Akoka Damages 5 Vehicles, 32 Suspects Arrested
Protesting staff and students at Federal College of Education (Technical) Akoka damages over 5 vehicles.
A team set up to mediate ongoing impasse between the staff and the provost was attacked upon their arrival at the school.
Video shared by the police shows at least 5 cars damaged by the rioters, who threw stones on the parked vehicles.



Police in Lagos have arrested thirty-two suspects following today’s violent protest by staff and students at the Federal College of Education (Technical) Akoka, which led to the damage of over five vehicles and the official quarters of the provost.
According to the police, a team set up by the Minister of Education to mediate the ongoing impasse between the staff and the provost of FCE (T) was attacked upon their arrival at the school today.

In a video shared by the police, at least five (5) cars likely owned by the mediation team were seen damaged by the rioters, who threw rocks and stones on the vehicles parked at the premises.


“For over three months, staff of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka locked out their Provost, depriving him use of his office,” Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said in a statement.
“A team set up by the Minister of Education arrived the school today to mediate the ongoing impasse. However, staff of the college aided by students attacked the team from Abuja, damaging over five vehicles and the Provost’s official quarters.”



“Not done, the rioting staff and students also blocked all entrances in and out of the college. The police arrived the scene and restored normalcy after being attacked with stones and sachets of water by the rioters.”
“Meanwhile, thirty-two suspects have been arrested while men of the Nigeria Police Force from Area Command, Surulere remain on ground to ensure that the restored peace remains intact.”
