Toyota is having an excellent sales year in Europe. In the first nine months of 2024, more new Toyotas were sold than ever before in that period. The same goes for Lexus.

If it continues like this, Toyota will soon be able to look back on a record year. The Japanese proudly report that in the first nine months of this year, 848,974 cars have already been sold in our part of the world, which was more than ever in that period. Compared to last year, this is a growth of 5 percent.

Not only Toyota is doing great so far, but Lexus is also on course for a record year. Just like Toyota, Lexus managed to sell more new cars in the first three quarters than ever before. Lexus sold 63,697 units, which was even 17 percent more than last year.

Toyota Motor Europe has even more interesting figures for us. No less than three-quarters of the cars sold by both brands have an electrified drivetrain. TME sees the greatest growth in plug-in hybrid models (+37 percent) and the Japanese owe this largely to the introduction of the plug-in hybrid Toyota C-HR. Electric cars by the two brands account for 28 percent growth. The growth in hybrids without a plug is considerably less at 9 percent, but hybrids have formed a large part of the manufacturer’s sales for many years.
