During its latest testing in northern Europe, the prototypes drove 45,000+ miles across frozen lakes and land tracks.

It allowed engineers to put Range Rover Electric’s advanced thermal management system through a demanding testing schedule.





Prototypes of the eagerly anticipated 2026 Range Rover Electric have completed a second successful season of testing and development in the sub‑zero conditions of the Arctic Circle, ahead of its unveiling this year.

During its latest winter testing in northern Europe, the prototypes accumulated up to 45,000 miles across frozen lakes and land tracks, allowing engineers to put Range Rover Electric’s advanced thermal management system through a demanding testing schedule.





“Rigorous testing procedures in extreme and unpredictable conditions like those experienced in Arjeplog are crucial to Range Rover Electric’s real‑world reliability and resilience,” said Thomas Müller, Executive Director, Product Engineering, JLR.

“Our second winter season in the Arctic Circle has provided the perfect opportunity for us to put our new ThermAssist technology to the test, and it has surpassed our expectations.”

“It will help to ensure Range Rover Electric’s range remains intelligently optimised while also ensuring charging speeds are maintained when a top‑up is required,” Thomas Müller added.

JLR said that the Range Rover Electric will use a 117kWh battery pack that is fully encased and smartly packaged, though it is still mute on the range. But the Mercedes EQS SUV’s 118kWh battery pack has a claimed range of 337 miles.

The British luxury marque began rigorous hot-weather testing of prototypes last November in unforgiving United Arab Emirate’s desert with temperatures as high as 50 degrees Celsius and up to 90 per cent humidity.

Following its second successful season of testing in the sub‑zero conditions of the Arctic Circle, JLR says that the Range Rover Electric prototypes will continue their demanding development programme ahead of client reservations.
