Toyota’s Hino Motors and Daimler Truck AG’s Mitsubishi Fuso merges to create new global “truck powerhouse”.

Both companies each aim to own 25% of the (listed) holding company of their Japanese commercial vehicle units.

Toyota and Daimler said further details on the nature of the collaboration, will be announced over the coming months.

Toyota Motor Corporation and Daimler Truck AG have finally agreed to merge Hino Motors and Mitsubishi Fuso, with both companies aiming for new listed holding company to start operations in April 2026.

With this collaboration, the four companies is seeking to create a new global “truck powerhouse” to contend with the mounting pressures of new technologies and competition.

In a joint release, Toyota and Daimler Truck said further details on the nature of the collaboration, including the name of the new holding company, will be announced over the coming months.

Hino is a consolidated subsidiary of Toyota while Mitsubishi Fuso is owned by Daimler Truck. Both companies will each aim to own 25% of the (listed) holding company of their Japanese commercial vehicle units.
