Custom BMW R 18 Transcontinental bike signed by Pope Leo XIV fetches $151,000 at charity auction.
Pope Leo XIV blessed and hand-signed during a ceremonial event at the Vatican on September 3, 2025.
Auctioned by Missio Austria via Sotheby’s on Oct. 18, all proceeds goes to children’s aid projects in Madagascar.
Custom BMW Super Cruiser fetched over six times the base price of R 18 Transcontinental, which starts from US$24,395.
A specially customized BMW R 18 Transcontinental bearing the signature of Pope Leo XIV fetched 130,000 euros (over $154,180) during Motorworld Munich on October 18, 2025.
Donated by BMW Motorrad, this specially customized BMW R 18 Transcontinental was blessed and hand-signed by by the pontiff during a ceremonial event at the Vatican on September 3, 2025.
Auctioned by Missio Austria via Sotheby’s, the custom BMW bike fetched over six times the base price of R 18 Transcontinental, which starts from US$24,395. All the proceeds from this sale will go to children’s aid projects in Madagascar.
“The fantastic result of the auction of our R 18 Transcontinental signed by Pope Leo XIV. is a wonderful final highlight of this charity campaign, said Markus Flasch, CEO of BMW Motorrad.

Painted mother-of-pearl white and affixed with coat of arms of the Vatican, this 91-horsepower Super Cruiser is powered by a 1,802-cc air-cooled twin-cylinder boxer engine.
Before crossing the auction block on October 18th, this unique BMW R 18 Transcontinental was on display at BMW Welt in Munich from 15 September to 7 October 2025.
