Honda announced today that its US subsidiary has recalled 880,514 vehicles in the United States due to a possible failure of rear suspension components, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced.

The recall includes certain Honda Pilot, Honda Ridgeline, Honda Passport and Acura MDX models, reports Reuters. According to the regulator, there is a risk that certain parts of the rear suspension, including the rear control arm (fork), could fail.

Drivers could then lose control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of an accident or injury, NHTSA added. Authorized service centers will inspect the rear subframe of Honda vehicles and install a kit to strengthen it.

If necessary, the damaged components will be repaired or replaced, at no cost to the vehicle owners, the press release notes.
