Chinese President Xi Jinping’s Impressive Motorcade Turns Heads In Egypt

Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Cairo, Egypt, on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, for a two-day state visit aimed at strengthening China-Egypt relations and expanding cooperation in economic, trade and strategic areas.

The visit, made at the invitation of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, is Xi’s first trip to Cairo in a decade. Xi was received with an elaborate ceremonial welcome as Egyptian authorities rolled out extensive security and protocol arrangements for the Chinese leader.

One of the most eye-catching aspects of the visit was the stunning presidential motorcade accompanying Xi and his wife, Peng Liyuan, through the Egyptian capital.

In a video, a long line of security vehicles led by motorcycle outriders moved in a carefully coordinated formation around the Chinese paramount leader’s Hongqi limousine and an identical decoy as the motorcade made its way through Cairo.

Codenamed N701, Xi Jinping’s 18-foot custom-designed official state car reportedly comes equipped with anti-rocket armour plates, thick bulletproof windows, and systems designed to protect against biological and chemical weapons.

While Xi’s Hongqi limousine provided a high level of comfort and protection for the Chinese president, additional security and official vehicles provided by the host country also helped manage traffic along parts of the route, creating a secure passage for the delegation.

Beyond the impressive convoy, Xi’s visit carries significant diplomatic and economic importance for both nations. China and Egypt have continued to expand cooperation, particularly in infrastructure, investment, trade and development.
