Toyota Hit By Long Waiting Times As The RAV4 Still Hasn’t Gotten To Customers

Months after initial reports of Toyota RAV4 shortages, supply remains low, and customers still face months-long delivery delays.

Toyota RAV4 supply remains constrained, causing months-long delivery delays for customers. Despite factory retooling and production challenges that are hindering inventory, the hybrid-only model remains the third-best-selling vehicle in the US as demand continues to outpace supply.

The new RAV4 launch faced supply constraints after switching to a hybrid-only model. While the Kentucky plant is now producing vehicles, a gradual ramp-up has prevented dealerships from receiving full inventory, leaving Toyota struggling to meet high demand.

We’ve been watching the squeeze for months. Earlier this summer, some dealers were measuring RAV4 inventory in hours, while one California Toyota store reportedly had more than 800 customers waiting. The tight inventory has cost Toyota tens of thousands of potential RAV4 sales this year.

Despite challenges, the RAV4 remains the third-best-selling vehicle in the US, with nearly 480,000 units sold last year. Its shift to hybrid-only power is well-timed, as hybrids now represent over 18% of new-vehicle sales this year.
