The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has secured the remand of an articulated vehicle driver, Mubarak Mansur, after he was arraigned before a Mobile Court in Abuja for alleged Route Traffic Violation (RTV), dangerous driving and fleeing with an arresting FRSC Marshal.

The incident happened at about 1:00pm on Thursday, September 3, 2026, during a Mobile Court enforcement operation at Kabusa Roundabout, Abuja, where Mansur was arrested for allegedly violating the prescribed route for articulated vehicles.

However, what began as a routine enforcement exercise reportedly took a dangerous turn when the driver allegedly drove away from the designated route while the arresting FRSC Marshal was still inside the articulated vehicle. The Marshal reportedly raised an alarm and called for reinforcement.

FRSC personnel, supported by officers of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), responded to the distress call and successfully intercepted the vehicle. It was subsequently redirected to the Apo Unit Command before being towed by a heavy-duty recovery vehicle to the FRSC FCT Sector Command for safekeeping.

Following his arraignment before the Mobile Court sitting at Kabusa Roundabout, presided over by Her Worship Teresa, the court ordered that the articulated vehicle be impounded while Mansur was remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre.

The case has been adjourned to September 8, 2026, for hearing and determination. The legal action highlights the seriousness with which authorities are treating dangerous driving, route violations and attempts to evade lawful traffic enforcement.

Speaking on the incident, FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed warned that road safety enforcement is not simply about issuing penalties but about protecting lives. He stressed that attempts to evade enforcement or endanger road safety personnel would be treated seriously under the law.

The FRSC advised motorists, especially articulated and heavy-duty vehicle operators, to obey designated routes, follow traffic regulations and cooperate with enforcement officers. Motorists were also reminded that no driver is above the law and that reckless attempts to escape enforcement can result in far more serious consequences.
