Kaduna Governor Unveils 2026 Peugeot 3008 And 5008 SUVs, Urges Govt Patronage

​Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has unveiled the new 2026 Peugeot 3008 and 5008 SUVs at the Dangote Peugeot Automobiles Nigeria Limited (DPAN) assembly plant in Kaduna, as the company steps up efforts to strengthen local vehicle manufacturing in Nigeria.

​The unveiling marks another milestone in Peugeot’s return to local assembly. DPAN began assembling the latest model range earlier this year, bringing modern Peugeot products closer to Nigerian buyers.

​Speaking at the unveiling on Friday, September 4, the governor pledged stronger government support for DPAN and locally assembled vehicles. He also announced that Kaduna State would order some of the company’s vehicles as an example for other governments to follow.

​“As a government, Kaduna State will order some of the vehicles, so that we can show the example for others to follow by patronising this very important company,” the governor said.

​He also promised to make a strong presentation at the National Economic Council, urging federal and state governments to patronise vehicles assembled by DPAN to ensure the long-term survival and growth of the automotive manufacturing company.

​“I will make a strong presentation at the National Economic Council, urging both the federal and state governments to patronise the products of this company because that is the only way they can survive,” he added.

​DPAN was established six years ago through a joint venture between Dangote Industries Limited, Peugeot—one of the flagship brands within the Stellantis portfolio—Kebbi State, and Kaduna State, the latter of which holds about 11.7 percent equity in the company.

​Governor Sani previously said the state’s shareholding was one of the reasons his administration was committed to supporting the company and protecting the jobs and economic opportunities it creates.

​“As of today, we are holding about 11.7% equity in Dangote Peugeot Automobiles Nigeria Limited, and that is the reason why, as a government, we will do everything to ensure the success of this very important initiative,” Sani said when the management of DPAN paid him a courtesy call five months ago.

​Designed to produce models including the Peugeot 301, Landtrek, 3008, 5008, and 508, DPAN’s greenfield assembly plant can assemble up to 120 vehicles per day across two shifts and boasts about 1,000 employees.
