EV Sales In Europe Reached An All-Time High
Sales of electric cars in the European Union reached a record in the first eight months of 2026, with growth of 45 percent year-on-year, as manufacturers rapidly expand their range of more affordable models to meet European emission reduction targets, according to an analysis published today by environmental organization Transport and Environment (T&E).
In the period from January to August, 1.64 million fully electric cars were sold, while their share in total sales of new vehicles reached 22 percent, six percentage points more than in the same period last year, reports Reuters.
T&E estimates that 2026 is a watershed year for the availability of electric cars, as the choice of models has increased by around 50 percent in just one year.
