5 Things That Can Make Good AC Compressor Go Bad

AC compressor is one of the major components of the air conditioning system of your car. We can call it the heart of the system because the role it plays is a very critical one.
Compressors are well known for their longevity; they last long. Some can serve up to 12-15 years before replacement. This compressor can’t just go bad; when it goes bad just like that, something must be wrong somewhere.
I encourage you not just to buy a replace and already bad compressor; make sure you find out what made the last one give up the ghost.
Technicians can always help you do this before they start replacement.
Below are what can make your compressor go bad.
1. Lack of lubrication:
Mechanical components are not often in good terms with friction. When there is not enough lubrication, it can make your compressor go bad. An oil leak, oil trapped in the suction line, and oil pump failure are some of the ways in which the compressor can fail due to lack of lubrication.
2. Contaminated system:
If contaminant elements such as air, moisture, dirt find their way into the compressor, it can make the compressor fail due to contamination.
3. Overheating of the compressor:
Overheating of the compressor is enough to make it give up. If there is not enough suction cooling or lack of condenser cooling, the compressor will overheat. Again, when there is air in the system, both the pressure and temperature of the compressor is raised, hence, causing overheat.
4. Electrical problems:
The electrical problem that is likely to cause this is imbalance in current or voltage. This will end up causing the compressor to overheat.
5. Floodback of refrigerant:
The liquid refrigerant doesn’t completely vaporize in the evaporator, returning into the compressor cylinder and damaging it with runaway pressure. There are many ways this can happen, from refrigerant overcharge to improper settings.
The AC compressor is a very costly component of the air conditioning system, ensure you take proper care of it or else your pocket will feel the impact.
