One-of-30 Hypercar: Japanese Businessman Storm BYD To Customizes His $2.9 Million Yangwang U9X

Japanese entrepreneur Shinya Takeuchi has moved a step closer to taking delivery of his bespoke Yangwang U9 Xtreme (U9X), following a visit to BYD to personalise his ultra-rare hypercar, which holds the record as the world’s fastest production car.
“A warm welcome to Japanese entrepreneur Mr. Shinya Takeuchi as he joins us at BYD to customize his bespoke YANGWANG U9X,” BYD wrote while announcing his visit to personalise the hypercar, described as China’s most exclusive car.

The Yangwang U9 Xtreme is the production-spec version of the world’s fastest car, which made headlines last September after recording a record-breaking 496.22 km/h (308.4 mph) run at Germany’s ATP Papenburg test track.

The first production-spec example, called “The Dawn”, made its debut earlier this year at the Beijing Auto Show (Auto China), where several orders were reportedly secured from customers around the world at approximately $2.92 million each.
At this staggering price, each of the planned 30 units in the limited production run costs more than ten times the price of the standard Yangwang U9, which starts at approximately $263,000.

According to BYD, each of the 30 Yangwang U9 Xtreme models will be a one-of-a-kind work of art, with bespoke details ranging from unique exterior paint finishes and carbon-fibre patterns to personalised infotainment interfaces and door-closing chimes.
“By delving into these millennia-old traditions, YANGWANG aims to find a resonance of values between Eastern artistic craftsmanship and the discerning tastes of 30 of the world’s top collectors,” BYD, the parent company of Yangwang, said in a statement.

“Some owners have already finalised their personalisation plans and are beginning to enter the contract-signing and production-scheduling phases,” the automaker added.
Featuring what BYD describes as the world’s first 1,200V ultra-high-voltage platform, the U9 Xtreme is powered by four ultra-high-speed electric motors that produce more than 3,000 horsepower, a significant upgrade over the standard U9’s 1,288 horsepower.
