Brabus Honors Its Founder With All-new Brabus BODO, A 1000-hp Hyper-GT Based On Aston Martin Vanquish

Brabus honors its founder with all-new Brabus BODO, a 1000-hp Hyper-GT based on Aston Martin Vanquish sports car. 

BODO is limited to 77 units worldwide – the number referencing the year (1977) when Bodo Buschmann founded BRABUS.

German automotive high-performance aftermarket tuning company, Brabus, has unveiled the all-new Brabus BODO, A limited-edition 1000-hp Hyper-GT to honor its late founder, Bodo Buschmann, who founded the company in 1977.

“Nearly fifty years ago, my father decided to start his own business. His passion is what built BRABUS,” explains BRABUS CEO and owner, Constantin Buschmann.

“However, there was one car he would often talk about, which, in the end, he never got to realize. It was a dream he had for a very long time. Today, we are honoring his legacy by finally bringing this dream to life. And, of course, it can carry only one name : BODO.”

Built on the bones of Aston Martin Vanquish, the Brabus BODO is limited to 77 units worldwide – the number referencing the year (1977) when Bodo Buschmann founded BRABUS. Annual production volumes ranging between 10 and 15 vehicles.

Unlike the base car, the Brabus BODO stands out with its “Piano Black” carbon fiber body plus a unique LED matrix headlights as well as a striking radiator grille with a total of 13 vertical slats.

At the rear is a spoiler, which automatically extends in multiple stages and continuously adapts its position at higher speeds, while a “77” logo is positioned under the rear window – to commemorate the founding year.

Like the exterior, the cabin is trimmed in smooth black leather and contrasting black Nubuck leather, while the embroidered signature of the Brabus’ founder is integrated into the door panels.

Instead of the Vanquish powertrain, Brabus opted for a hand-built 5.2-liter V12 biturbo engine sourced from Mercedes-Benz – which features two flow-optimized four-valve cylinder heads, a fuel injection system and the BRABUS high-performance turbo system.

This Brabus-tuned powerplant churns out 1,000 hp as well as a maximum torque of 1,200 Nm (885 lb-ft), allowing BODO to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from rest in just 3.0 seconds and on to an electronically limited of 360 km/h (224 mph).
