Here are the 6 owners of the only 8 Bugatti Chiron hypercars in the whole of Africa. 

The Bugatti Chiron is now sold out after the 500th and last example dubbed the ‘L’Ultime’ rolled off the assembly line in May 2024 — 8 years after the Veyron replacement arrived in 2016 as the most powerful, fastest and luxurious car in the world.

Despite being a limited-edition hypercar, some copies found their way somehow into Africa and into the hands of business tycoons and wealthy individuals despite the jaw-dropping price of over $3 million.

Here are the six (6) owners of the only the eight (8) Bugatti hypercars in the whole of Africa as compiled by Autojosh.

6. Zimbabwe – 1

In 2020, South African-based Zimbabwean billionaire, Ian Chamunorwa Nyarungwe Haruperi, made headlines after landing a Bugatti Veyron in Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Zambia to evade tax.

The hypercar, which was briefly seized by the authorities, was later shipped to South Africa where it has been spotted driving somewhere in the Johannesburg area.

5. Tanzania – 2

Earlier in the year, a Bugatti Chiron Super Sport arrived Tanzania’s Julius Nyerere International Airport aboard a cargo jet. Another Chiron reportedly owned by Maro was snapped cruising in Masaki in Dar es Salaam in 2025.

4. Zimbabwe – 1

Zimbabwean property tycoon, Frank Buyanga, owns a white Chiron – his second Bugatti hypercar after earlier gifting himself a 1,200-horsepower Veyron back in 2015.

The two Bugatti Hypercars wears a Zimbabwean registration as South Africa does not register left-hand drive cars.

3. South Africa – 1

A Bugatti Chiron, owned by South African businessman and entrepreneur, Zunaid Abbas Moti, has been spotted going for a spin in the streets of Cape Town.

2. Equitorial Guinea – 1

58 year old Equatorial Guinea’s Vice President, Teodorin Obiang Nguema, who happens to be the son of President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, also owns a Chiron.

Nicknamed Teddy, Obiang, who has never been shy to flaunt some of his rides on his official social media pages, owns some of the most expensive hypercars in Africa.

1. Ghana – 2

At least two of the 500 examples of the Bugatti Chirons hypercars ever built are housed somewhere in Ghana – a country famous for its incredible collection of sports cars and hypercars.

In 2022, Osei Kwame Despite, gifted himself a Bugatti Chiron Super Sport to mark his 60th birthday while Richard Nii-Armah Quaye also gifted himself another one to celebrate his 40th birthday in 2025.
