Bugatti Puts Tourbillon Prototypes Through Rigorous Winter Testing

As part of the latest episode of its ‘A New Era’ docuseries, Bugatti has offered a sneak peek into the rigorous testing of its Tourbillon validation prototypes during a four-week winter validation program on the frozen expanses of Arjeplog, Sweden.
At the Colmis Proving Ground in Arjeplog, the Bugatti team subjected prototypes to some of the harshest conditions a road car can encounter as part of a validation exercise for its all-wheel drive, ABS, ESC, and traction control systems in extreme winter conditions.

“We are here to test and develop the Tourbillon in extreme conditions, to do various different tests on the HVAC system, on ABS, on ESC systems, traction control and vehicle dynamics in general,” said Miroslav Zrnčević, Chief Development Driver at Bugatti Rimac.
The Bugatti Tourbillon offers three driving modes—Comfort, Sport, and Track—each calibrated to manage the hypercar’s immense power and maintain exceptional stability across a wide variety of road conditions.

While most customers will never drive their $4.1 million Tourbillon on snow and ice, Bugatti explained that its rigorous development standards demand the hyper sports car be validated in all weather conditions.
“Of course, hypercars are not really intended to be driven on snow and ice, but we do cover this quite extensively. Simply because it’s of paramount importance, to both our customers and the teams developing the car, that the Tourbillon works extremely well in all weather conditions. After all, if its capabilities are comparable to other cars, it’s no longer a Bugatti, ” Miroslav added.

Bugatti Tourbillon made it debut in June 2024, replacing the legendary Chiron. The electrified car boasts 1,800-hp and 2,300Nm from a 1,000-horsepower naturally aspirated V16 engine plus 3 electric motors with 800-hp.
Just 250 examples of the 2026 Bugatti Tourbillon (or half as many as the Chiron) will ever be produced, with each starting at 3.8 million euros (roughly $4.1 million), before unlimited options.
