Chinese President Brings His New Armoured Hongqi N501 To Nepal

Chinese President Xi Jinping rode in one-off bulletproof Chinese-made Hongqi N501 limousine during his two day official visit to Nepal.

Xi Jinping arrived in Nepal on Saturday for the first state visit to Nepal by a Chinese head of state in 23 years.

He was received at Tribhuvan International Airport by President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

His official state car, which travels to every country the Chinese president is visiting, was surrounded by identical beast limo, which acts as spare, and other security vehicles, such as the luxurious Mercedes GL-based BAIC BJ90 SUV.

Xi departs from past practice of using a host country’s cars for state visits. It was seen as an attempt to promote the Chinese brand on the international stage.

It’s in line with Xi Jinping’s 2012 directive to Communist Party cadres that they should only use Chinese cars.

Xi Jinping said :

“It doesn’t look right to sit in a foreign car,”

“Lots of foreign leaders use limousines of their own country, unless there isn’t one.”

Hongqi has not officially launched the N501 as at 2018, and details of the car was nowhere to be found in the company’s catalogs. Specifications of the Hongqi N501 will be added as soon as we get the right details.

Xi is not the only one trying to sell his countries products to the world. Last year, Vladimir Putin brought his new Russian-made Aurus Senat Limo to G20 summit in Argentina to show prospective buyers.

The 6 tons Limo and its spare caused stir amongst the local media with the Argentinian TV channel Mira TN calling the Limo a “Real Bunker On Wheels”.

The Question Now Is – Can The Government Do The Same To Promote Nigerian Brands Abroad?
