COAS Gifts New Hilux To Ex-Officer To Mark Air Force Remembrance Day

Lieutenant General Farouk Yahaya, Chief of Army Staff, has presented a brand new Hilux truck to retired Nigerian Army Warrant Officer Stephen Ekpe in recognition of his 35 years of meritorious service to the nation.
Major General P. Malla, Commander of the 13 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, presented the truck at this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day on Saturday at Calabar’s Millennium Park.
The event was attended by state officials and service commanders, and a wreath was laid at the tomb of the unknown soldier by the State Deputy Governor, Ivara Esu, and the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Eteng Williams.
Hon. Justice Akon Ikpeme, the State Chief Judge, and the Commander of the 13 Brigade of the Nigerian Army also laid wreaths in memory of the unknown soldier.

“The country will never forget those who paid the supreme price in the service of the country,” said Alfred Mboto, Permanent Secretary Special Services Governor’s office.
He stated that the welfare of officers serving in the state was the state government’s top priority, and he urged them to do their best for the country.
Following the presentation of the vehicle, Stephen Ekpe thanked the Chief of Army Staff, describing him as a man of integrity for keeping his promises.
He stated that, despite being retired, they still have a lot to contribute to the country in terms of intelligence gathering and improving the country’s security situation.
The Armed Forces Remembrance Day ended with 21 gun salute and the release of white pigeons by the State Deputy Governor.
