Croatia Approves Tesla’s Self-Driving System

The company Tesla has announced that its Full Self-Driving (Supervised) system, i.e., FSD Supervised, has been approved for use in Croatia.

Tesla says the rollout of the system will begin soon.

It is one of Tesla’s most advanced driver assistance systems, but despite the name “Full Self-Driving,” the car is not fully autonomous. The driver must monitor the driving, follow the traffic, and be ready to immediately take control of the vehicle.

When switched on, FSD Supervised can manage a range of driving actions on its own—following the road, steering the vehicle, changing lanes, passing through junctions and adapting to traffic. Tesla specifically warns that FSD Supervised requires active driver supervision and that using it does not make the vehicle autonomous.

After the system becomes available in a country, Tesla can introduce it to compatible vehicles via an over-the-air software update. For now, the company has not announced the exact date when Croatian owners will start receiving it but only stated that the rollout will begin soon.

Tesla has been gradually gaining national approvals for FSD Supervised in European countries in recent months. It is separate for now from the process by which Tesla is trying to get a broader approval that would apply at the level of the European Union.

A decision at the European level will not come as quickly as previously expected. A vote in the relevant EU technical committee, expected in October, has been delayed until at least December.
