Ford Escape And Lincoln Corsair Have Been Recalled Due To “Rollaway”

A fresh recall for the Escape and Lincoln Corsair crossovers only increases the likelihood that Ford will have the humiliation of shattering its own recall record in 2026. Both of these vehicles were recently cancelled due to a rollaway danger recognised by the automaker. A recall was the only sensible line of action since, despite the small number of impacted vehicles, they might not meet a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Here are some things you should know if you own one of these crossovers.

Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair Rollaway Recall

According to Ford’s recall report, when “park” is selected, these cars might not immediately engage the Electronic Park Brake (EPB), which might cause the car to roll away while parked. Second-generation Integrated Park Modules (IPMs) utilised in these models as part of a small-scale plant trial run have been connected to the problem.

According to Ford, “The binding of the vehicle’s IPM pawl against the IPM slider component may restrict the slider from returning to its fully engaged park position.” “Higher coefficients of friction between the pawl and slider, arising from differences in the manufacturing process and/or materials in conjunction with the interface design, may cause this binding.”

The problem affects 208 vehicles in total, with all being hybrids and 2026 models. Of the total, only five are Lincoln Corsairs, with the rest being Ford Escapes. Ford will conduct a software update to fix the issue at no charge to the customer.
