Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State declared a state of emergency on road construction and rehabilitation across Lagos State.
The Governor declared the state of emergency during a meeting with road construction contractors.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, in a statement, said “ We totally understand the plight of all Lagosians regarding the state of our roads. We are fully aware of our responsibility, and we do not plan to fall short of it.”

According to the governor, contractors were engaged based on their pedigree and capacity to comprehensively and competently rehabilitate roads across the state, which is of utmost importance to us at this time.
Recall that early in his administration, Gov. Sanwo-Olu ordered the Lagos state public works corporation to commence patching and rehabilitation of bad roads across the state.
The bad state of Lagos State roads became the crux of conversation on social media after a video surfaced online that alleged Governor Babatunde Sanwo-Olu’s convoy drove against traffic to avoid gridlock on Ikorodu Road.
The Governor made the declaration on Sunday at the Lagos House, Marina, during a meeting with road construction contractors.
In attendance during the meeting were representatives of the road construction contractors such as Julius Berger, Arab Contractors, RCC, etc.
