LASG postpones enforcement of E-call up system for trucks and articulated vehicles on the Lekki-Epe corridor.
E-call up system for the Free Trade Zone corridor was initially scheduled to commence on Thursday Aug 1 2024 (today).
Application of an e-call-up system is expected to avert congestion, improve the efficiency of logistics operations.
E-call up system is designed to regulate the entry and exit of trucks by scheduling and coordinating their movements.
The Lagos State Government has announced the postponement of the electronic call-up system for all trucks and articulated vehicles on the Lekki-Epe Corridor, initially scheduled to commence on Thursday, August 1, 2024 (today).
The postponement of the electronic call-up system follows the requests from stakeholders for an extension of the timeline to make room for adequate compliance, according to a statement e-signed by the Deputy Director, Public Affairs, Bolanle Ogunlola (Mrs),
“After further consideration of stakeholders’ request for an extension of the timeline to give adequate room for full compliance, the Lagos State Government has postponed the commencement of the E-Call Up system on the Lekki-Epe corridor.”
“The Statee Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi urged all stakeholders to seize the opportunity of the postponement to ramp up full preparation in readiness for the successful take-off of the technology-driven solution of truck movement on the Lekki-Epe corridor.”
Designed to regulate the entry and exit of trucks in the Lekki-Epe area, the application of an e-call-up system is expected to avert congestion of articulated trucks and improve the efficiency of logistics operations within the Free Trade Zone corridor.
Though, a new date for the commencement of enforcement hasn’t been disclosed, the electronic call-up system will help prevent the chaotic traffic situations often caused by the indiscriminate parking and movement of trucks within the Lekki-Epe Corridor.
