Mercedes-Benz Sales In The Third Quarter Fell By 8%
Sales of cars from the German manufacturer Mercedes-Benz fell in the third quarter of 2026 by eight percent year-on-year to 407,200 vehicles, under the pressure of unfavorable market conditions and weak demand in China, the company from Stuttgart announced today.
Sales in China, one of the key markets for the German luxury car manufacturer, fell by as much as 31 percent, to 86,800 vehicles, reports Reuters. The result in China was significantly worse than in other major markets, as sales in the United States increased by six percent, while in Europe they increased by five percent.
The segment of the highest class vehicles was particularly affected, whose sales in the third quarter decreased by 21 percent, to 53,900 vehicles.
Mercedes-Benz said the result was affected by weaker market conditions in China, as well as model changes.
In contrast, sales of all-electric vehicles continued to grow strongly. Sales of battery electric vehicles (BEVs), which include cars and vans, increased by 52 percent to 78,100 vehicles.
The weakness of the Chinese market represents a special challenge for European luxury car manufacturers, who are facing changes in consumer habits and strong local competition, the media reports.
