Renault says that the Filante Record 2025 is a laboratory on wheels for testing new technologies, materials and innovations.
Filante Record 2025 will be on show at the Rétromobile motor show in Paris from 5 to 9 February 2025.
Renault is on course to set a new record for power consumption and electric range this year with its electric demo-car dubbed the “Renault Filante Record 2025” specially developed to maximise energy efficiency.
Fitted with unique friction-reducing 20-inch Michelin tyres, along with steer-by-wire and brake-by-wire technologies, Renault says that the Filante Record 2025 is a laboratory on wheels for testing new technologies, materials and innovations.
Eye-catching details on the exterior includes a bodywork in Ultraviolet Blue recreated specially for Filante Record 2025. The new shade looks blue or violet depending on the reflections of the light and the viewing angle.
It also features a front and rear wheel fairings designed to improve air penetration while the wide side wheel flanges contribute to the uninterrupted flow of the body and the absence of visible breaks.
Like the exterior, the cabin design of Filante Record 2025 is inspired by the worlds of aviation and space travel – with every detail designed to maximise performance, comfort and efficiency.
The Filante Record 2025 takes its name from Etoile Filante – a Renault record breaking aeronautics-inspired single-seater vehicle built in 1956, while the word Record is a direct reference to the single-seater 40 CV des Records vehicles, which set a string of speed and endurance records from 1925.
Based on a collaboration between engineering and design teams from Renault and Ligier Automotive, the Filante Record 2025 demo car previews a range of technologies that will be studied for use on tomorrow’s production vehicles.
“We designed this vehicle as a sculpture in motion. Inspired by fighter planes and the speed records of the nineteenth century, it reflects both performance and timeless elegance,” says Sandeep Bhambra, Director of Advanced Design, Renault and Ampere.
“Every inch of the surface was crafted to capture the light and showcase the body lines, which appear to melt into the air. The blue windows and colour palette further underline this light and airy impression. The design as a whole seeks to convey an impression of flow and lightness”.
The Renault Filante Record 2025 will be on show at the upcoming Rétromobile motor show in Paris from 5 to 9 February 2025, before setting out to establish a new record for efficiency in the first half of the year.
