Stellantis EVs To Start Using Tesla’s Charging Port

In the United States and Canada, a growing number of car manufacturers are opting to implement Tesla’s charging exclusions for their electric cars. Stellantis has also succumbed.

Tesla uses the North American Charging Standard (NACS) in the United States and Canada. This is becoming less and less a Tesla issue. BMW GroupToyota and LexusHondaHyundai and Kia, Jaguar and Land Rover, NissanGeneral MotorsRivianVolvo, and Polestar, among others, have already adopted the NACS connector or have committed to doing so. Now, Stellantis is also opting for the NACS connector. And not just in the United States and Canada.

In the United States and Canada, Stellantis will begin delivering models equipped with the NACS connector early next year. The Jeep Wagoneer S, Dodge Charger Daytona, and the brand-new Jeep Recon will be among those equipped. In 2027, Stellantis will also equip its EVs in Japan and South Korea with the NACS connector, providing access to Tesla’s extensive Supercharger network.

In Europe, the CCS charging standard is used almost universally. Tesla uses it, too, by the way. In the United States, Teslas have a different charging port. Non-Tesla EVs generally use the CCS1 port. This, in turn, is different from the CCS2 connector used in Europe.
