Tesla Records Decline In Sales In The Second Quarter Of 2023
In the second quarter of this year, Tesla delivered no fewer than 466,140 new cars worldwide. The brand thus broke its own delivery record. Now Tesla has released how many new cars it delivered in the third quarter of this year. This was 435,059 fewer than in the second quarter. So no new record.
Of the more than 435,000 cars that Tesla delivered in the months of July, August, and September, 419,074 were a Tesla Model Y or Model 3. Only 15,985 cars were a Tesla Model S or Model 3.6 percent in total. Over the past five quarters, Tesla has built more cars than it delivered. That trend is now coming to an end. In the third quarter of this year, Tesla assembled 430,488 cars worldwide. That was up from 479,700 a quarter earlier. In the period January to September, Tesla delivered approximately 1.32 million cars worldwide.
According to Tesla, it was able to build fewer cars in the past quarter because it had to temporarily shut down factories – according to the brand as planned – to make certain changes to those production facilities.
