Tesla Executive And Confidant Fired By Elon Musk
“We can’t succeed without your contribution, but we will move forward regardless.” This is the message Tesla CEO Omead Afshar reportedly received after his failure to boost sales resulted in his removal from the position.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk was in the news a lot in the first half of 2025, but mostly because of his role as the Trump administration’s “head of government shrinkage.” Because even someone like Musk has to choose where to focus his attention, the day-to-day management of Tesla and a number of other companies was increasingly placed in the hands of other top executives during that period. Those executives were unable to prevent Tesla from selling fewer and fewer cars, with all sorts of external factors likely playing a role.
Among the top executives named was Omead Afshar, who is described by Automotive News, among others, as a true confidant of Musk. Afshar was responsible for Tesla’s production and sales activities in North America and Europe, but Musk has now reportedly asked him to clear his desk. Officially, nothing is known about this, but according to the media that reported it, Tesla’s disappointing results are partly blamed on Afshar. Another fired Tesla manager, Matthew LaBrot, told Automotive News that the pressure to increase sales is very high, ‘especially in Europe.’
