Tesla starts production of Cybertruck electric pickup truck after two years of delays.

First unveiled in November 2019, Tesla’s original release date for the Cybertruck electric pickup truck was 2021.

Now, Tesla is planning a delivery event “around the end of Q3” or around the end of September 2023.

Back then, Musk said the exterior will be made of ultra-strong stainless steel alloy, while the glass will be shatterproof.

According to Musk, Cybertruck will be able to take smaller firearms like 9-millimeter handguns.

After two years of delays, the first Tesla Cybertruck electric pickup truck has finally rolled off the company’s Giga Texas assembly line in Austin ahead of volume manufacturing that is expected to begin “this summer”.

Sharing a photo of the first production Tesla Cybertruck and its workers on its Twitter page on early Saturday morning, Tesla tweeted “First Cybertruck built at Giga Texas!”.

At the Tesla’s annual shareholders meeting in May, CEO Elon Musk gave a Cybertruck production volume estimate of about 250,000 units per year, though he added that he believes it could be between 250,000 and 500,000 units a year.

When it finally arrives, the Tesla Cybertruck will rival US-made electric light-duty trucks like the Rivian R1T, Ford F-150 Lightning and Bolinga B2.
