Three Dead, Several Injured As Train Rams Into Lagos Govt Staff Bus

Three dead, several injured as train rams into a blue BRT bus conveying staff of Lagos Government to work.
Lagos Government staff bus was trying to cross the PWD/Sogunle rail track when a train crashed into it.
Casualties transferred to the General Hospital for further medical attention after being given first aid.
Men of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and NEMA were at the scene for rescue operations.
Three persons have been confirmed dead and several others injured in an accident involving a moving train and a BRT staff bus conveying staff of Lagos State Government to work on Thursday morning, between Shogunle and Ikeja axis.
The casualties were transferred to the General Hospital for further medical attention after being given first aid by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency’s Paramedics.
According to eyewitness, the staff bus was trying to cross the PWD/Sogunle rail when a train coming from Abeokuta crashed into it, dragging it from PWD Bus Stop before stopping at to Shogunle.
Confirming the accident, spokesman for the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Nosa Okunbor said :
“Two adult females and one male staff of the State Government lost their lives in the crash and 82 others injured and evacuated to LASUTH.”
“The State Government staff bus was trying to cross the PWD/Sogunle rail crossing while the train coming into Lagos from Abeokuta trapped the bus on its rail,” he added.
First responders, including men of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), NEMA, were at the scene for rescue operations.
Following the rescue operation, LASEMA deployed its Resources to recover the BRT bus. The recovery operations was supervised by the LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu.
