Three Dead After Plane Crashed Into Parked Helicopter At World’s Most Dangerous Airport Near Mount Everest

Three people have died in a plane crash in Nepal, at what is regarded as the world’s most dangerous airport. Reports suggest the plane skidded off the runway during takeoff before crashing into a parked helicopter .The helicopter was cut in two and three others were damaged.
The dead include one of the pilots of the plane and two police officers who were near the parked helicopter.
Four of the passengers and a flight attendant on board the plane were safe. The injured , which includes the other pilot from the plane and the helicopter pilot, were airlifted to Kathmandu by helicopter.
Both airlines are private companies serving climbers, tourists and locals to the Mount Everest region.
The airport is often referred to as the world’s most dangerous because the runway is short and surrounded by mountains, making it extremely difficult for takeoff and landing. It’s open only to helicopters and small fixed-wing aircraft.
There are about 35 flights and 100 helicopter ferries every day from the airport.
