The first Autonomous Rail Rapid Transit (ART) route in northwest China, nearly 12 kilometers in length, opened to traffic on Tuesday in Shaanxi Province.
The LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) guided articulated bus system for urban passenger transport has a designated load capacity of 231 persons and can run at a maximum speed of 70 km/h (43 mph).

First unveiled in Zhuzhou in the Hunan province on June 2, 2017, the Autonomous Rail Rapid Transit (ART), Developed by CRRC Zhuzhou Institute Co Ltd, has been described as a combination between a bus and a tram – often called a “trackless tram”.
The exterior of the lithium–titanate battery-powered ART is composed of individual fixed sections joined by articulated gangways, resembling a rubber-tyred tram.
