Toyota Recalls Some Grand Highlander And Lexus TX Vehicles
Toyota is conducting a noncompliance safety recall involving certain model-year 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander and Lexus TX vehicles. Approximately 145,000 vehicles are involved in this recall in the U.S.
The curtain shield airbag on the driver’s side may not deploy as intended during certain crashes if the driver’s window is rolled down. If this occurs, the vehicles may not meet a federal safety standard, increasing the risk of injury during certain crashes.
Toyota is currently developing a remedy for this issue.
Customers will be notified about this issue by the middle of August 2024.
Information about automotive recalls, including but not limited to the list of involved vehicles, is current as of today’s filing date and is subject to change thereafter. To see if your vehicle is involved in a safety recall, visit Toyota.com/recall or nhtsa.gov/recalls and enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or license plate information.
The Toyota Grand Highlander and Lexus TX are built in the same plant in Princeton, Indiana. Thus far through 2024—the first full production year for both SUVs—Toyota has already sold 48,840 Grand Highlanders while Lexus has moved 18,965 examples of the TX.
Both SUVs use the same turbocharged 2.4-litre four-cylinder base engine, while the Grand Highlander has a Hybrid Max option with 362 horsepower, and the TX has a plug-in-hybrid option with up to 406 hp.
