Autojosh, Nigeria’s authoritative car blog, has shared pictures of the first-generation Transporter Type 2 and the all-electric ID. Buzz, which are two Volkswagen mini vans separated by almost 73 years apart.
Type 2
The Volkswagen Type 2, which arrived in the market in 1949 and now in its 7th-generation, is the best-selling van in history – with over 12 million units sold worldwide.

The first Transporter pictured above was initially derived from the original Volkswagen Beetle (Type 1). Depending on body type, the van is known as the Transporter, Kombi or Microbus and informally as the Camper (UK) or Bulli (Germany).
ID. BUZZ
The first series production of the retro-styled battery-electric Volkswagen ID. Buzz on the other hand began rolling off the assembly line in June 2022 at the automaker’s third electric vehicle plant in Hannover, Germany.

Since its arrival in the market, the Volkswagen’s all-electric ID. Buzz has been named ‘Icon of the Year’ at the 2023 GQ Car Awards, and won the award for Best Large Electric Car of the year, awarded by What Car?
Starting at $69,084, the base model, with an 82 kWh battery-pack allows a range of 424 km (261 miles) on full charge, while a DC fast-charging system allows a 5% to 80% in a charging time of 30 minutes.
