Widely regarded as one of the most well-built cars ever made, the Mercedes-Benz cars W124 gained a good reputation for reliability. Back then, the Mercedes-Benz W124 was a status symbol as it very expensive and of course owned by the wealthy.

First introduced to international journalists in Seville, Spain in 1984, the Mercedes-Benz W124 is a range of mid-size cars made by Daimler-Benz from 1984 to 1997.

Though collectively referred to as the W-124, the range included numerous body style including saloon (W 124), estate (S 124), coupé (C 124), 2-door cabriolet (A 124) and 6-door limousine limousine (V 124).

From 1993, the 124 series was officially marketed as the E-Class. The W 124 followed the 123 series from 1984 and was succeeded by the W 210 E-Class after 1995, and the C 208 CLK-Class in 1997.

During its production years, Mercedes sold a high performance version of the W124, the 500 E, created in partnership with Porsche, the later who also assembled it. The 500 E was powered by the 5.0 L 32-valve V8 M119 Engine based on the engine from the 500 SL (R129) roadster.

In all, over 2.5 Million (2,562,143) examples of the Mercedes-Benz W124 was built between 1984 and 1997. The saloon (sedan) was sold between 1986–1995 (saloon) while the coupé/convertible between 1987–1996.
