The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), has deployed all-electric street-sweepers across the metropolis which operates with zero emissions and lower noise compared to traditional fossil fuel-powered models.

In a video shared by the Lagos State Commissioner, Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, an electric street-sweeper was seen performing road sanitation work in the night, demonstrating its high efficiency and maneuverability.

LAWMA’s electric street-sweepers equipped with brushes (brooms) that rotates at high speeds to dislodge debris from the surface.

“Electric Street-Sweeper cleaning Mile2 to Ijeshatedo Road (Mile2 to Coconut route), Oshodi to Iyana Oworonshoki, Osborne traffic light to Grover Junction (Alfred Rewane route), Adeniji Adele to iyana Oworonshoki (Third Mainland Bridge) and other parts of Lagos State,” Wahab wrote in the caption.

Designed for cleaning the busy cities, these cutting-edge mechanical sweepers are equipped with brushes (brooms) that rotates at high speeds to dislodge debris from the surface.

The deployment of all-electric street-sweepers will surely reduce the dangers faced by human street sweepers, including environmental hazards like dust and fumes as well as traffic accidents from driver recklessness.
