781,459 Stellantis Vehicles Under Investigation In The US For Alleged Engine Fires

The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that it has opened an investigation into 781,459 Stellantis vehicles because it suspects that their engine could catch fire in certain cases even when the car is turned off.

The vehicles in question are the Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator, produced between 2021 and 2023, reports Reuters.

It was previously reported that Stellantis had recalled about 1.46 million of its Ram trucks, mostly from the North American market, because of a software problem that could disable their electronic stability control systems.

Stellantis is currently having sales problems in its key market, the United States.

CEO Carlos Tavares visited Detroit in late August to develop a new strategy to improve the company’s operations in the US.
