Top Signs Of Radiator Failure

Radiators are heat exchangers used for cooling internal combustion engines,especially in automobiles.

The Internal combustion engines are often cooled by circulating a liquid called engine coolant through the engine block,where it is heated,then through a radiator where it loses heat to the atmosphere,and then returned to the engine.

The car radiator is an important part of your vehicle’s cooling system.
If your vehicle is overheating,looking into your car radiator is an obvious place to start.
To remove vehicle heat,the radiator fan blows outside air across thin fin tubes filled with hot coolant.
If the fin tubes are clogged on the outside of the radiator,air can’t flow past them and the radiator fan can’t do its job to cool down the tubes.

If your car is suffering from any of these symptoms of cooling system trouble be sure to head to the auto repair shop right away.

1)Visible Coolant Leak
Coolant is often a bright green color that has a very sweet smell to it.If your coolant system is leaking it will collect on the ground near the front of your car.If you find this liquid be sure to schedule an appointment to have the leak location identified and repaired.

2)Discolored or Rusty Spots Under the Bonnet
If the cooling system springs a small leak there is a good chance it will spray coolant all over the hot parts of the motor. As soon as the coolant lands it will boil off, taking any paint with it. This will result in a discolored spot that will be vulnerable to rust.

3)White Exhaust Smoke
If you notice white exhaust coming from your vehicle’s rear end there is a strong chance that there is a problem inside in the engine block that is allowing coolant to be burnt up in the combustion chamber.This reduction in coolant puts your car at risk of overheating and needs to be repaired ASAP.

4)Rising Temperature Gauge
Be sure you keep tabs on the temperature gauge on your vehicle’s dashboard for any indication of a hot engine. If the needle starts pointing to the red zone you’ll want to pull over to ensure you don’t run the risk of overheating problems, such as a blown head gasket or a cracked engine block.

5)Smoking Bonnet
If smoke begins to pour out from under the bonnet you need to pull over as soon as it is safe to. This usually means that your car is currently overheating and if it is not shut off it will lead to major trouble.

Your cooling system plays an important role in overall vehicle function so it is necessary you take good care of it, including providing it with routine coolant flushes.
