Toyota’s 6ft 10inch Basketball Robot CUE4 Hits 11 Three-pointers In Shooting Contest (Photos,Video)

Toyota’s six-foot 10-inch basketball robot CUE4 can now run and pick up a balls. In January, Toyota Motors’ CUE4 hits 11 three-pointers in Japanese shooting contest.
CUE3 set a Guinness World Record by shooting 2,020 free throws consecutively in 2019.
Toyota’s 6ft 10inch basketball throwing robot has been improved and can now run around the court and pick up balls itself before shooting them.
The CUE robot was born as a voluntary project for Toyota Motors employees to work on in their spare time.
Earlier in the year, CUE4 was brought out in an All Stars jersey to shoot before Levanga’s B league All-Stars game in Hokkaido.
In a three-point shot contest, the 91kg robot ended up shooting 11 out of 25 from the three-point line in front of a packed stadium.
Toyota Motors, known for churning out cars like RAV4 and Land Cruiser, even acknowledged that CUE4 could not hit a single shot during a practice the day prior to the shootout.

The robot is the latest version of CUE, building on the successes of its predecessor, CUE3.
CUE3 set a Guinness World Record by shooting 2,020 free throws consecutively in 2019.
On the day of the attempt, CUE3 took three hours eighteen minutes to make its first 1,000 consecutive shots. During the attempt, CUE3 was shooting with unerring accuracy every 12 seconds.
Due to time constraints, the team set its goal for this record attempt at 2,020 shots, in support of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, after continually throwing for more than six hours.
But CUE3 had to be fed basketballs as it was unable to grip the ball. Cumbersome wires also means it had to be stationary and could not move.
Advancements made to the CUE3 robot allowed it to grip the balls itself with a new hand. The latest version of Toyota’s Basketball robot, CUE4, has a carbon fibre frame that comprises of 15 joints and 23 motor shafts.
