BREAKING : President Muhammadu Buhari names Agbor Railway Complex after his predecessor, ex-president Goodluck Jonathan.
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the naming of the Railway Complex in Agbor after former President Goodluck Jonathan.
This news was made known by the Special Assistant to the President on Digital and New Media, Tolu Ogunlesi, through his Twitter handle on Saturday.
Tolu Ogunlesi credited the news to the Transport Minister, Chubuike Ameachi.
“BREAKING | President @MBuhari has approved the naming of the Railway Complex in Agbor – the operational hub of #ItakpeWarriRail Line – after former President @GEJonathan. It will be known as the Goodluck Jonathan Railway Station & Complex — Minister of Transport, @ChibuikeAmaechi,”
The Transport Minister, Amaechi, also confirmed the news. He said this while giving updates on the test-running of the new coaches.
Amaechi said :
“Today, we continued test-run of our new coaches on the completed Itakpe-Warri standard gauge rail line. We’ve named the largest station on this route – the Agbor railway facility and station after former President Goodluck Jonathan.”
The railway complex is the operational hub of the 276 km Itakpe-Warri line that links Warri in Delta State to Ajaokuta in Kogi State.
The now completed line was started in 1987 before being abandoned for many years.
The line was built to move iron ore from mines around Itakpe to the steelworks at Ajaokuta.
Other stations include: Eganiy; Adobe; Itogbo; Agenebode; Uromi; Egehen; Igbanke; Agbor; Abraka; Okpara and Ujewu stations.
