Police Impound Two Bullion Vans In Lagos For Moving Cash Without Escorts

Police impound two bullion vans in Lekki and Ajah areas of Lagos for moving cash without security escort.
The vans ferrying cash belonging to commercial banks violated the approved standard species escort procedure.
This includes an escort vehicle in front and at the back as well as minimum of four mobile policemen in each vehicle.
It comes three weeks after armed robbers attacked a bullion van in the Ajah, carting away huge sums of money.
Police operatives attached to the Area J command in Ajah, Lagos, has impounded two bullion vans for moving cash belonging to commercial banks without security escorts.
The vans were impounded for violating the approved standard species escort procedure. This includes an escort vehicle in front and at the back as well as minimum of four mobile policemen in each vehicle.
According to police source, the two vans were impounded by Area Commander, ACP Gbolahan Olugbemi. One of the cash-filled vans was apprehended in Ajah area while the second van was found in Lekki.
The source revealed that :
“At the time of arrest, the bullion vans were without escort vehicle which has been their usual practice. One was found in Ajah and another in Lekki,”
It comes three weeks after some armed robbers attacked a bullion van on Ado Road in the Ajah area of Lagos State, carting away huge sums of money.
At least one person was killed during the daylight robbery, which was captured on camera.
