Accident Claims 3 Lives In Ondo After An Out-of-control Toyota Corolla Crashed Into Bullion Van - autojosh

Road accident claims three (3) lives in Ondo State after an out-of-control Toyota Corolla crashed into a bullion van.

The deceased, which included a lady and two men, were said to be the occupants of the Corolla.

The Mercedes-Benz bullion van reportedly tumbled during the crash, injuring the driver of the van. 

The bullion van heading to Akure belongs to the Central Bank of Nigeria.





Three people have reportedly lost their lives after an out-of-control Toyota Corolla sedan crashed into a Mercedes-Benz bullion van belonging to the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The fatal crash happened along Airport Road, Oba-Ile in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State on Thursday, June 24th.

The deceased, which included a lady and two men, were said to be the occupants of the Toyota Corolla. Three other people also sustained varying degrees of injury.

According to reports, the driver of the Toyota Corolla, coming from Akure towards the Airport in Oba-Ile, lost control due to overspeeding.

This resulted in the sedan jumping over the central barrier onto the other side of the road, before colliding with the bullion van heading to Akure.





Eyewitness account said :

“The vehicle was on high speed and jumped off the median and rammed into a bullion van from the other lane and the occupants died immediately.

“The bullion van hit the corolla Camry while the bullion van also tumbled injuring the driver of the van”

According to witnesses, who participated in the evacuation of the corpses, the policemen from Oba-Ilee Division evacuated the victims to the state hospital in Akure.

The state sector command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the accident. It said :

“The injured victims were taken to Joe Jane Hospital by passers-by and the corpses were taken to the same hospital. The car was towed to the Oba-Ile Police Station, while the bullion van was towed to the CBN office in Akure by policemen.”
