Record 3,754 Range Rover Among 48,400 Stolen Cars In UK In 2021, Here Are 10 Most-stolen Cars
A record 3,754 Range Rover SUVs and 3,909 Ford Fiestas were among 48,400 cars stolen by robbers in UK in 2022.
The latest car theft data shows that an average of 133 cars are stolen every day in Britain and around 933 per week.
A report by Tracker also revealed that the Range Rover Sport topped its ‘stolen-and-recovered’ league table for 2021.
Tracker revealed that the Range Rover and Land Rover models dominated its vehicle recovery activity last year.
Tracker said that the desirable SUVs accounted for 44% of all stolen cars recovered over the course of the 12 months.
Almost 48,400 vehicles were recorded by police as stolen in 2021, which is 1,600 more than the 46,800 stolen in the previous year, according to records held by the Driver and Vehicle Licencing Agency (DVLA).
The latest car theft data, obtained by leasing firm LeaseLoco via a Freedom of Information request to the DVLA, shows that an average of 133 cars are stolen every day in Britain and around 933 per week.
According to data, the Ford Fiesta — the most-registered vehicle in the UK for the past 13 years — was the most targeted model in 2021 – with 3,909 vehicles reported missing.
The records show that 517 more Fiestas were stolen last year than in 2020, when 3,392 vehicles were reported missing.
The second most stolen car last year was the Land Rover Range Rover. With increase in smart keyless car-theft, around 3,754 (2,881 in 2020) Range Rover SUVs were reported stolen in 2021.
